Bathroom and Powder Room Remodels

We’re not talking about your Mama’s bathroom.  Bathrooms and powder rooms have been elevated to the same status as other rooms in your home.  Tile showers, granite counter tops, and  multiple shower heads  are some of the latest trends in home improvements.

I’m on a budget, what options are available that look good but are gentle on the budget?

Decide what’s most important to you.  There are beautiful laminates that look  like granite.  A fiberglass shower surround provides a compact solution for  nearly any bathroom.  A fresh coat of paint and new bathroom fixtures are an  instant and affordable face lift for your bathroom.  New flooring or tile is an  easy way to create fresh new look to your bathroom. Tell me your home improvement budget and I’ll suggest ideas that will give you the WOW…without breaking the bank.

Basement Remodels

He calls it the Man Cave.  You use the basement to host the kid’s birthday party or family gathering.  Get the space you want with the function you need to make it work.

We want the extra living space but don’t want to give up the  storage space. What do you suggest?

You can have both.  Using cabinetry is a great way to get organized storage. Hide  the toys or store your seldom-used household items.   Use shelving to show case  your collections or memorabilia.  Insulated and finished walls provide a backdrop  for your art work or family photos.  A built in desk area serves as a home office  with cabinetry and shelves to hold important business or personal papers.

I need an office. He wants a Man Cave. The kids want a play area. Can we have it all?

It depends on the size of the space and many other factors.  But knowing what  you want is a great first step.  Call me and I’ll be happy to look at the space and  suggest a few ideas.

Replacement Windows

A cool breeze is wonderful, except if it’s coming from  your windows in thewintertime.

Why replace your current windows?

  • Drafts prevent you sitting near the windows in wintertime.
  • Cleaning is nearly impossible without being double jointed.
  • The mold or fogged window is ugly.
  • Improve air conditioner efficiency.

I can’t afford to replace all my windows.  What do you suggest?

While it’s ideal to change replace all your windows, it may not work with your budget.  Consider starting in bedrooms or main living areas that feel drafty.   A high quality  replacement window in your bathroom can make bath time comfortable and cozy.

Do I need the top-of- the-line window?

I recommend that you can get the best quality that you can afford. A mid-range  window gives you the energy efficiency you want and is budget-friendly.  You’ll see energy savings and if economic rebates return, only this level and higher qualify for the rebates.

Stop the draft!

About Wolf’s Home Improvements

Do you really want to read a bio?
I didn’t think so.

So let’s talk about what’s important to both of us. Am I the best carpenter for your job?  Here’s how I work and then you decide if we’re a good fit.

Quality workmanship is always in style.
You will always be able to find somebody to do it cheaper. But it’s the attention to  detail like tight mitered joints, completing the painting prep work (yes, I know, you  don’t like doing that) and like-it-never-happened drywall repair.

It’s your home. I respect it.
Home improvements can make dust and dirt—but it doesn’t have to be a disaster.  I’ll cover your furniture and clean up and remove all the debris.

You’re not an expert.  That’s ok.
(And, I’m not an expert at your job either.)  By listening to what you want, I can  offer suggestions for your project and work within your budget. Whether you’ve seen it at your neighbor’s house or on HGTV, I listen to your ideas, look at your  pictures and help you make it fit your home.

We both want a fair price.
(Yes, I said both.)  I live on a budget, just like you do. I seek out value. But there’s  a big difference between value and price. If you’re looking for the cheapest price—I’m not your guy. I won’t cut corners and use substandard materials to give you a rock bottom price.

  • My price to you is my best price.  I want your work so I give my best price first. Looking to decrease the cost?  Just tell me and I’ll suggest alternative materials or do-it-yourself options to reduce your cost.
  • Estimates are. . . estimates.  No one can anticipate rotted wood or things that are  not up to code to name just a few of the surprises I see each day.  I’ll help you understand anything we may run into that we can’t see until the renovations begin.
  • We both hate sticker shock.  You don’t want to see a $15,000 price tag for a job you thought would be $2,000. If I know your approximate budget, I’ll make suggestions so there are no surprises and decide to move forward with the work—or not.

Insurance estimates aren’t free. Insurance companies require up to three estimates. Clearly there will only be one winner in that game and it’s usually the lowest cost. If you want an insurance estimate, I charge a small fee up front. When I get the job, I refund that fee.
